Oman E-Commerce holds an E-Procurement Seminar

August 19, 2008

Oman E-Commerce LLC (OEC) strives to provide the best services to its customers in the fast-growing Omani market. In this respect, and in order to achieve the company’s vision of becoming an active partner in the Sultanate’s pursue towards the establishment of a digital society, an E-Procurement Seminar was held at Grand Hyatt Muscat on 19 August 2008.

In this seminar, Mr. Damodaran M., Senior Manager-Procurement, Al-Hassan Engineering Company talked about the company’s initiative to transfer into e-procurement using Tejari.com. The step comes after the signing of an agreement between Oman E-Commerce and Al Hassan Group of Companies last July.

Shaikh Mohamed bin Sulaiman Al Harthi, Managing Director, Oman E-Commerce LLC (OEC), says that “The Company’s goal is to change the routine traditional procurement & purchasing process to a more efficient and advanced automated online process, which in return will help in energizing the business in the Sultanate”.

OEC also explained the services offered by “Tejari” and the benefits to various suppliers including increased efficiency, lower costs and wider customer base. Suppliers may also upload their companies profile, contact details, their logos, their products and trade leads in the Tejari Link. In addition, they can also obtain information on all auction and tenders floated on the Tejari Transact.

The seminar was attended by a large number of suppliers and buyers representing various sectors. “The time when we had to wait for a long time to get a purchase order has gone” as one supplier puts it. Another explains that “the process which once took days now only needs few hours and it is done in a more transparent way”.

Tejari currently has over 200,000 trading partners dealing with each other in the e-marketplace and is supported by cutting edge technology that provides a high-level of data security and integrity. In the Middle East, Tejari Transact is also supported by a 24/7 call centre and specialized personnel ready to provide local support and training. Through Tejari, buyers can find, compare and procure products and services from the familiarity and convenience of their desktop Internet browser. Suppliers can list their products and services and sell them through online catalogues..
