Tejari & Omania E-Commerce Conduct a seminar on E-Commerce / E-Procurement

With an ongoing endeavor and passion to initiate and excel within the e-commerce industry, and under the patronage of H.E. Eng. Sultan Bin Hamdoon Al Harthi, Under Secretary of Heritage Affairs, Ministry of Heritage & Culture, Omania E-Commerce and Tejari have conducted a seminar on E-Commerce and E-Procurement, on the 29th of May at the Muscat Intercontinental Hotel – Muscat.

Attendees varied from different walks of life bringing together various industries and government sectors that have benefited or eager to benefit from the gains bestowed by E-Commerce. The objective of the seminar was to inform, educate and increase the awareness of existing and potential e-commerce initiatives in the region and their benefits to the society as a whole.

The exhilarating presentations tackled major aspects of e-commerce/e-procurement. A panel discussion with the speakers was carried out which opened the platform for the audience to question and challenge the thoughts presented. The diverse background of the speakers provided a vast sum of knowledge that catered the heterogeneous crowd, which was united under one idea: "The future is near and everyone needs to be part of it."

A welcome note was presented by Sheikh Mohammed S. Al-Harthy, Managing Director , Omania E-commerce LLC (Tejari Oman), who spoke about the future vision of Omania e-commerce in Oman & he explained how success does not taste the same without challenges. "While, technical aspects of e-commerce solutions are important, a much important factor in the successful implementation of such initiatives lies in the softer aspects dealing with change management", he said

Mr. Hani Obeid, Director Consultancy Services, Tejari, Dubai, UAE, demonstrated how technology has evolved to reach this point where e-commerce is the new dominating concept in the business world. Sheikh Aimen Ahmed Al Hosni, Directory General, Administrative & Finance Affairs, HRMS Superintendent, Ministry of Civil Services who spoke about the Human Resource Management Systems and the great benefits that it added to the traditional HR process. Colonel Dr. Suleiman Mohammed Mohammed Al Harthy, Directory General, Directorate General of Civil Status- Royal Oman Police, discussed the National registration and the revolutionary smart ID card System which helps in capturing a huge amount of civic data. On the other hand, Mr. .Khalid Sulaiman Al Siyabi , Director of IT Systems, Ministry of Education tackled the future of education in Oman and how it is being affected by the electronic age leading towards a more efficient electronic educational system.

Needles to mention that Tejari first started in Dubai, thus the major success stories came from first hand experienced individuals who tasted and reaped the benefits of the Electronic epoch. Mr. Walid Sawalhi, Deputy Director – Department of Health & Medical Services (DOHMS) –Dubai shared DOHMS’ experience with Tejari in Dubai and how it has placed DOHMS in a leading position to embark on e-commerce and enjoy the savings and fortunes of e-procurement. Talking of pioneers, Oman Aviation Services (OAS) took the leap and strategically decided to utilize the Tejari e-procurement module, thus transforming traditional procurement into the electronic dynamic procurement which resulted in an increase in efficiencies and decrease in costs. The OAS experience was shared by Eng. Mohammed Salim Ba’Omar, who did not fall short of praising e-procurement in general and Tejari in particular. Last but not least, Mr. Ibrahim Yaqob Ali Naseer, Director of Contracting and Purchasing, Dubai Municipality, UAE, discussed thoroughly the concepts of online purchasing & tendering shedding the light on the advantages of conducting procurement online.
