OEC plans more investments

November 7, 2006

MUSCAT — Omania E-Commerce LLC (OEC), which invested a substantial amount in acquiring the franchise licence from Tejari FZ LLC and in hiring experienced employees, is looking to make more investments in new projects shortly. Within the coming weeks, OEC will be announcing the launch of new products and strategic partnerships with a major global organisation, with whom "we will jointly work to enhance our offerings. OEC is also currently evaluating some emerging technologies that will bring unique ICT solutions into the country in 2007", Managing Director Mohammed al Harthy said.

Al Harthy says, "Our past few months of operations have been very exciting. We have seen a number of opportunities in the Information Communication and Technology (ICT) arena from both, the public and private sector. Within a short span of time, OEC has been recognised and has established itself with a reputation of being a leading, innovative, and comprehensive ICT solution provider in the Sultanate". At present, OEC's focus is in e-procurement solutions, and in certain e-solutions such as e-security and e-consultancy.

This portfolio will grow in the near future to encapsulate other areas in the ICT arena. Established in early 2005, OEC has managed to get multiple large buyers and a number of suppliers comprising of large business houses in Oman. In addition, its client base with other e-solutions is growing. OEC sees many opportunities and under-served niches in Oman. These opportunities are identified through "our growth plans described above. The key focus of our company is to offer turnkey e-solutions that cover the scope of consultancy, design, application development, security, implementation and training", Al Harthy added.

Al Harthy is upbeat about the future of Oman's e-solutions industry. Oman's economy in general is on a growth track right now. More private organisations are looking to invest in solutions that will improve their internal processes and bring greater convenience and satisfaction for their customers. With the Internet being the fastest and most convenient way to reach the end user, web enabled solutions are being highly considered. These developments bring many opportunities for areas in which our company is operating and planning to expand.
