Tejari Oman holds an e-Sourcing & e-Procurement Workshop

Living up to its vision towards being an active and important partner in Oman’s drive towards a digital community, Omania E-Commerce has conducted an "e-Procurement & e-Sourcing" workshop on 26 of March 2007. OEC is always endeavoring to provide nothing but the best to Oman’s ever-growing market. The world-class workshop was conducted by Dr. Graham R Smith, where issues like online bidding / auctions, e-procurement and e-sourcing were tackled thoroughly. The workshop was divided into two sessions. The first session talked about the advantages of e-businesses and explored the ways to successfully implement e-procurement into any organizations’ system. The second session gave an overview of the history of online auctions, the types of auctions, the online bidding strategy and the history of online bidding in Oman. Dr. Smith was able to paint a colorful picture of the definite advantages that e-procurement & e-sourcing offer.
Attendees comprised a mix of procurement specialists within buying organizations from the public and private sectors, in addition to members from the vendor’s community. The benefits of e-procurement & e-sourcing were explored and re-enforced to all. One of the pioneer buyers in adopting e-procurement reflects "Through using Tejari, single handed I am able to control efficiently my purchasing process with even less time". Another supplier reflects, "The days of long waiting for a purchase order in the buyers’ office are over." Another supplier explains, and I quote "What used to take days to be finalized, now takes hours and with more transparency in the market place."
Sheikh Mohammed Al Harthy, Managing Director of Omania e-Commerce explained, "The company's goal is to change the routine traditional procurement & purchasing process to a more efficient and advanced automated online process, which in return will help in energizing the business in the Sultanate".
